  Ballinasloe is one of the train stops we passed through.
  We took Iarnrod Eireann or Irish Rail from Dublin to Galway and after 4 days took a return. Alternatives were to:
  a. rent a car
  b. take a bus
  Well the scheduled times are all about the same so decision (and a good decision at that) was to take the train.
  It is a relaxing ride compared to driving and dealing with traffic, right-hand drive, manual transmission to shift with my left hand and just not having to stress out over my American Instincts to drive on the right side of the road.
  Compared to Buses in general, well I'm about 6'7" and 300 lbs (and I'm down from 348lbs.) so roominess is a primary concern. There is plenty of room. My wife and I had four seats and a table to spread our stuff (cell phones, chargers, computer, ...) across. I do believe that if this were an Airline, they have 6 to 9 seats or more in the same space. The view were pastoral, Sheep, Cows, Horses and Farms.
  We booked our tickets on-line Dublin to Galway. The tickets cost about 19 euros each and were changeable. Iarnrod Eireann has 3 levels of tickets, cheapest, you miss your train and, well too bad. highest (we had) you miss your train and if there's room on the next, you're on. You get to pick your car and seats within the car during the online reservation prcess. When you get on the train, your name is displayed electronically by the reserved seat.
  Overall a wonderful experience.
  OOPS! I forgot to talk about the WiFi. Yes there is WiFI, but it is slow. Like 3Mbps slow.You are not going to upload a bunch of photos, nor Stream a video. It is good for browsing and email.
